Statement of Faith

At By Grace Community Church, we believe our purpose in life is to glorify God by enjoying Him forever.

By Grace Community Church is a member of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA) and a part of the Tidewater Presbytery.  You can gain a greater understanding of our beliefs by reading the Westminster Confession of Faith.

The Bible

The Bible is uniquely, divinely inspired, entirely trustworthy & authoritative for all aspects of faith & life. We believe it to be the Word of God.  The Bible consists of 39 books forming The Old Testament and 27 forming the New Testament.

The Trinity

We believe in one living and true God, eternally existing in three persons; that these are equal in every divine perfection, and that they execute distinct but harmonious offices in the work of creation, providence, and redemption.

The Father

We believe in God the Father, an infinite, personal spirit, perfect in holiness, wisdom, power, and love. We believe that He infallibly foreknows all that shall come to pass, that He concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of each person, that He hears and answers prayer, and that He saves from sin and death all who come to Him through Jesus Christ.

Jesus Christ

Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God, was the Eternal Word incarnate in flesh, conceived by the Holy Spirit. We believe in His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles, and teachings. We believe in His substitutionary atoning death, bodily resurrection, ascension into heaven, perpetual intercession for His people, and personal visible return to earth.

The Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is the eternally existent third member of the Godhead, that proceeds from the Father and Son, who with the Father and Son is worshipped and glorified.  He regenerates men by His grace, convicts them of sin, moves them to repentance, and persuades and enables them to embrace Jesus Christ by faith alone.  He unites all believers to Christ, dwells in them as their Comforter and Sanctifier, and gives to them the spirit of Adoption.  He will lead the Church into a right understanding and rich application of the truth of God’s Word!
